Why we are called to do this crucial work

by World Vision on January 25, 2018

“For it is by grace that you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast” (Ephesians 2:8-9). For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do” (verse 10).

These powerful verses tell us that we are indeed saved through faith alone, the amazing gift of a loving God, but that we are saved for a purpose—to do the good works God actually prepared beforehand for us. The logical outcome of our faith, then, is to do good works. This is the evidence of redemption and renewal in Christ. The voice of World Vision Founder, Bob Pierce, explains why we are motivated to serve those Jesus considers "the least of these brothers and sisters of mine," in Matthew 25.
